European Earwig
The European earwig is up to 16 mm long. It is a reddish- brown colour. European earwigs were introduced to North America in the early 1900s by transportation through flowers, vegetables and automobiles. These insects mate in late summer and early fall. The females lay from 30-55 eggs. When in large numbers, they often crawl into structures by accident to seek cool, moist areas to hide out during the day. They do not breed indoors and forage for food at night feeding on both plants and animal matter.
